Project Sole Shoe Drive

The Funkytown Flyers will be launching a new charitable drive starting at our July Bag Tag Challenge. We will be working with a Carrolton based non-profit, Project Sole, to collect shoes. Project Sole collects these shoes and distributes them to people in poor countries in desperate need for shoes.

"Because there are germs in dirt that cause infections and diseases to our skin, footwear is an important barrier
to protect health. Most of us are not affected by this issue because we have more than one pair of shoes, and we
live in sanitary conditions. However many countries use dirt roads and financial resources are scarce. The shoes
we distribute provide a practical and economical solution for a basic necessity."
.

Here is how the drive will work.  We will collect shoe donations at every bag tag challenge and everyone can drop off their donations at the IOM Pro Shop. This drive wants every pair of shoes you no longer need, it doesn’t matter how trashed the shoes are. Project Sole sorts out the usable shoes and distributes those and then recycles the unusable shoes.

This charitable drive is perfect for disc golf. We all go through a lot of shoes playing this game and now there is something positive we can do with those shoes we no longer need. So we encourage everyone to go through your closets and collect all of your unwanted shoes and bring them to a Tag Challenge. We also encourage anyone who wants to start their own mini-drive with your family or at work to do so and bring in what you have collected. Project Sole will distribute a small amount of funds back to our club for our efforts. So we can do something charitable and help raise additional funds for the Course Development Initiative at the same time.
